Lazy Day

I actually laid down on the floor with the intention of working out doing a few crunches, and somehow ended up here.

Oh well, another day maybe. Life's too short to stress about the baby pooch I still have (at least that is what I am trying to believe). The bad news is that it is not going away like it did after my first 3 pregnancies. The good news is that I can now wear 2 pairs of my pre-pregnancy jeans. They may have once been my "fat day" jeans, but they are now my favorite jeans!

Introducing...

A new, convenient cubed avocado storage unit....

The eyebrow!
Every time Maddie has avacod0 (which she loves, BTW. seriously, she will eat an entire avocado in one sitting), it ends up in her left eyebrow. Every. Time.

Art Nouveau

I'd like to say that when I looked out the back door window and saw this, I put an immediate stop to it. But I can't.

What Keeps 2 Kids and One Kitten Busy for One Whole Blissful Hour?

Free grocery store balloons.

Maddie held on to her balloon with a tiny tight fist, like a vise, from the second the checkout lady handed it to her, until lunch time. What was hilarious is that once Taylor ate the suckers that came attached to the end of the string, I tied the balloons to two plastic doughnuts so they wouldn't float out of reach. Maddie kept crawling around with the string gripped in her hand, and turning around, wondering why the green doughnut was following her.
Happy Friday!!

Our Day In Pictures

Needless to say, we are all irritible, grumpy and discontent. Could it be the umpteenth day in a row of drizzly rain?

The Post Where I Rant (and then redeem myself with cute pics)

So I'm beginning to struggle with the whole SAHM thing these past two weeks. A very small part of me is starting to want to go back to work. Which actually wouldn't be such a bad idea financially. Just get a job then! you may be thinking. It's not that simple. But then, nothing is, right?

Anyway, two nights ago, both of the girls and me were all in the bathtub (water conservation, anyone?) and Harry was walking along the edge of the tub. Of course, he slipped and fell in, catching my leg with his claws on his way. We all had a great big belly laugh at his expense, for he looked like a drowned, well, cat. We did take pity on him after he began to shiver uncontrollably, and Taylor wrapped him up in blanket to warm him.

Please excuse the terrible quality of these photos, my camera is old, broken, and generally in dire need of a burial at sea.

A Time For Change

There comes a time when we all have to -gulp- realize that we are no longer hot, young 20-somethings, and accept our age. To ease into our thirties with dignity and grace. To pass the torches of clubbing, miniskirts, daisy dukes, and pierced belly buttons and noses to the newer generations. I may have entered my thirties a few days ago a few years ago, but it has taken me awhile to come to terms with these basic facts of life. With that in mind, it was time to let go of the full head of bright blond highlights that I have sported since my late teens and try a more sophisticated look. I present, my new hair.

Yes, its quite dark, and I am still recovering from the shock. Sophisticated doesn't have to mean drab, though, so there are a few highlights along the crown of my head to liven things up a bit!

True Love

Who says you can't buy love? Pets may be expensive, but unconditional love is priceless.

And this gorgeous, delightful girl is soooo close to walking, she took one step towards me in this picture (only because she wanted to play with the camera, which of course I promptly handed over! Who could resist that face??).

I bought this Liz Claiborne purse to use as a diaper bag. Its fabulous, big enough to store all of baby's necessities, yet lacking the cutesy baby-ish motif that plague most diaper bags on the market. Harry thinks its quite fashionable. He says it brings out his eyes.

You Know They're Too Young For A Nintendo DS When...

...you find it at the bottom of your kitchen trash can, covered in pureed beef-n-veggies, coffee grinds, and wet diapers other stuff (who puts urine-filled diapers in their kitchen? Uh uh, not me). Subsequently the game was off limits for an entire day, forcing her to play with previously- adored-yet-recently-abandoned toys.

Their first pair of matching jammies. It is an ugly print, but it was the only color with one available in both sizes. Corey said the pattern looks like "poop covered with sweet-tarts". He's a true poet.

We were blessed with a visit from Grandma yesterday. We sure wish she lived closer so this happened more often! Maddie is chomping on her first Chic-fil-a chicken nugget. Grandma was impressed that once she bit a small piece off, she kept it at the front of her mouth and proceeded to chew it with her front teeth. High intelligence runs in the family--she gets it from her Grandpa.

Dear Madison, this is what happens when you refuse to take your afternoon nap...

Going...

Going...

Gone.

I guess her dinner of brown rice, sauteed sugar snap peas and baby cheetos was just too boring.

Random Weekend Happenings

Maddie has started to reject baby food. It started this morning with breakfast, and continued through lunch and dinner. Did I say reject? I'm sorry, what I meant was spew it across the room and laugh hysterically. So, when the breastmilk cereal mixed with pureed apricots once again landed on my shirt, we tried something different. Below are pictures of her stuffing her face with fresh steamed broccoli.

And since broccoli makes you super smart (and gassy, but that's neither here nor there), she composed this very post for your reading pleasure.

In this picture, she looks more like her daddy than I've ever seen her look. Her ears and her nose, particularly. And notice the brand new curls! I guess I can cancel the wig order I placed, it looks like she may have hair after all! Woot woot!

New Toys

Here is Taylor playing with her brand new gently used Nintendo DS Lite, purchased off of Craigs List for the awesome price of $50. Two games were included in the deal, and since they crossword puzzles and brain teasers, we just took them both to Game Stop and traded them in for one that is more age-appropriate. Amazing, she seems to have matured 2 years in the 14 hours since we picked it up (read: sitting still for more than 10 minutes, following directions, significantly reduced tantrums and crying). Boredom breeds misbehavior, it seems.

Maddie's new toy, er, is actually the kitten's new toy. But she loves it! So does the dog. Cat hasn't much touched it...
